Spring 2018 Wrap-up

“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence, by which He has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.”

2 Peter 1:3-4

As we wrap up this very busy and exciting year of traveling, we look back and see obvious times of God’s “divine power [granting] to us all things that pertain to life and godliness,” providing for what He has called us to do. He is a God Who rescues and sustains. What a privilege we have as we travel from church to church and proclaim Him, watching Him move in hearts. Week after week, we saw the power of His Word making the truth of the gospel clear, even to the kids in our Amazing Grace Race kids’ program. He is so kind to allow us to see some of the fruit of the ministry of the gospel.

From balmy 80 degree weeks in Florida, to snow falls in Pennsylvania, we’ve been able to safely cover lots of ground this semester. God’s also allowed us to cover some good ground on projects, like recording our new Christmas album (stay tuned!) during our spring break in March. We were so thankful to have Pastor Jonathan Albright join us for a week at Aire Born Studios and help us through the recording process. Our team then spread out around Michigan, Ohio, North Carolina, and South Carolina for a week of break with our families before coming back for the final 6 weeks of traveling.

We’ve also been chipping away at preparations for our summertime in Salt Lake City, UT, as it’s only a few weeks away. Our family and church team there are excited to have 4 of our current traveling team members join us out in SLC this summer: Andrew Smiley, Alicia Newcomer, Andrew Smith, and Bethany Wescott. They’ll be serving as summer interns under P4tG during the months of June and July, helping out with Plant Camp and gospel outreach events for Gospel Grace Church and Gospel Hope Church, all while receiving training on urban church planting and discipleship.

Our family and team are excited to see what this summer holds for us, as well as what this coming fall holds for us. For one, we’ll be welcoming a new team member in August: Jordan and Shannon Allen’s new baby girl! We’ve absolutely loved being able to share in the excitement that comes with planning and preparing for a new baby. We were even able to throw Shannon a surprise Baby Shower earlier in April. Starting a family on the road also comes with many challenges. We know that the Allens sure would appreciate your prayers as they start into this new stage of life! Thank you for the love and support that so many of you have already shown them.

In addition, this September will mark the beginning of our final year of traveling as a team. While serving on staff with Gospel Grace Church in SLC remotely these last seven years, the impractical nature of both traveling itinerantly with a team and pastoring a church has become more and more obvious. For this reason, we have decided to relocate our geographical center to Salt Lake City once we finish our team itinerary traveling schedule in March of 2019. We will continue to take on 10-15 speaking engagements outside of Salt Lake City per year and will continue on with the preaching of the gospel, equipping of the saints, and encouraging of believers to share their faith in a post-Christian culture. In addition, our desire is to help churches be revitalized and see growth in a disciple-making culture.

We praise God for you and your partnering with us in what God is doing in the Salt Lake valley, and we look forward to seeing how God works and guides in this new chapter of life. Please pray with us as He continues to build the Church in Salt Lake City to the praise of His glory!

For the Gospel,

The Galkin Team
