Game Time?! - by Reba Snyder PDF Print E-mail
ticket_to_ride.jpgThis last week at Wichita Falls, TX, we enjoyed some extra special fellowship with close friends Lucus and Liesl Counterman.  Liesl traveled with Christy on the Steve Pettit team when they were still single.  Liesl played the accordion and piano on the team.  Stephanie, Liesl, and I would have loved to play an accordion trio but there was a shortage of accordions in Texas at the time.  When we meet up with past Pettit team members on the road there’s always a sweet fellowship involved as a result of our common experiences.  We enjoyed a night of food and fun with the team and Counterman family.

One of our favorite things to do is play special games as a team.  Our recent purchase has been the game Ticket to Ride.  The game involves building train connections between certain points of destination, and whoever builds the most trains and completes the most destinations wins!  We played Ticket to Ride with the Counterman’s and Josh took the win by...

building trains all across the continental United States.

Other games we have enjoyed on our team are Citadel, Settles of Catan, and Rook.  Citadel is the most strategizing game I have ever played.  You win the game by building districts by becoming different characters and taking on their special characteristics.  Some of the characters you can be are a thief, assassin, architect, king, merchant, etc.  Will is especially good at this game because he loves trying to figure out which character everyone is and what move they’re going to make next.   We enjoy playing these games on Sunday night during our family time in the trailer or any other night we’re able to have a few extra hours together as a team.

A few nights ago, we enjoyed a cook-out together eating hot dogs, veggies, and rice krispie treats.  After eating, we played games with the kids like kick the can, sharks and minnows, and freeze tag.  We loved playing the games with the kids but after a few minutes of sprinting, most of us adults realized how out of shape we are.  I still have visions of being relentlessly pursued by Lilly Galkin in freeze tag.

Fun is an important part of our team.  We are so busy and have so much going on in a week of meetings, we must set apart time just to relax and enjoy each other’s company.  Not only must we be co-workers but close friends.
