Ministry Update

Calvary Baptist Church - Simpsonville
pastortaylorandwife.jpg   We were back on the road from a two-week break, but the Lord gave us great grace last week at Calvary in Simpsonville. Our team was able to connect with friends in the area that attended Calvary, and with the Pettit Team as they were recording in Greenville. We also had a great time with Pastor Taylor and his family. The Taylors treated us to deserts and fellowship at their home, although the highlight for the kids was to see Luke Taylor’s pet snake.
The Lord gave us grace last week with notable conversions. The first day of meetings, a lady in the church accepted Christ. Throughout the week many children either made assurance or accepted Christ as their Savior. Our Irish Concert had a great turn out from the community. Many church members went out and invited neighbors and friends and we praise God many guest were able to hear a clear presentation of the gospel!
Recording in Greenville
christyrecording.jpg   Right at this moment, Reba Snyder, Christy Galkin, and Gary Emory are in the process of editing and mixing our new Galkin Team instrumental. Our team spent last week recording at Brightwater Digital Studios in Greenville, SC. We are excited about this recording because it has such a unique aspect of mediation. The CD will feature about fifteen meditative songs, and some possibly mixed with scripture readings. Please continue to pray for us as we are still in the mixing process of this CD. Mark your calendars for the release of this new recording coming out Summer of 2010.

Faith Baptist Church - Pensacola

bailie.jpg  We had a great week of Ministry at Faith Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida. The youth group had their first ever Cola War on Thursday night. There was just the right amount of visitors for the event, and a few teens made professions of faith that night.

The highlight of the week was the Valentine’s Banquet on Friday night. Pastor Wooten, along with several church members, worked hard throughout the week to make the evening a success. Praise the Lord for the hard work of His saints to invite their friends to hear the Gospel.

Berea Baptist Church - Palm Harbor
billygotcher.jpg   We praise God for the multiple opportunities we had last week to preach Christ.
While ministering with Billy Gotcher at Berea Baptist Church in Palm Harbor, Florida we were able to host an Irish Concert at a retirement community for over 300 lost souls. We were able to give testimonies about what the gospel of Jesus Christ is and the necessity of the gospel to every person through word and song. We saw many visitors from the retirement community come out to our meetings at the church throughout the week. This concert was a great opportunity for Berea Baptist Church to get its name out to a lost community.
Our teen Cola War was excellent. Over thirty teens came out for some crazy games, free pizza, and a gospel message. Unknown to us at the time, a parent of a teenage boy was outside the church buildings praying earnestly for her son to be saved, and her prayers were answered!
Many church members brought friends and family to Friday’s outreach, the Friendship Banquet. Our team was praying specifically for adults to be saved this week at our meetings, and a handful of guests accepted Christ on Friday.
We are humbled to see the great works of God in the way he answers our specific prayers and His power to save souls.

Hillsdale Baptist Church
dsc_0020.jpg    It is our desire as a team to see God work in each church we come in contact with. When we see that it is God that does a work through our lives, we grasp the big picture of what our ministry is. This week at Hillsdale Baptist Church, we saw God do a great work. Our team was able join in ministry with Pastor Travis Smith at a men's night where the gospel was preached to over 80 members and guests. Over 80 teenagers came out to our Cola War, 24 of which were counseled about salvation, and many children in our Battle for Truth sessions made professions of faith.
Wednesday night may have seemed like a discouragement at first, but the Lord was definitely at work. The power went out at the church and the surrounding area for about 45 minutes during our pre-session. The staff at the church decided to cancel the meeting, but through that, Will was able to talk to a man he had been sharing the gospel with for several days. And that night, while the power was out, Will was able to lead him to the Lord.

Clearwater Christian College
gymnasium_post_office.jpg    Our team had a great opportunity to minister at Clearwater Christian College this past week as we hosted their Winter Revival Meetings. We were able to minister through music and preaching, but we were also able to connect with the students by talking, eating, and sharing our hearts with them. The team girls, Reba, Elise, and Laura, were able to host dorm devotionals three nights, sharing what the Lord has been teaching them. A few students raised their hand to acknowledge their need for salvation, and praise God some were able to secure that relationship with the Lord. Other students were challenged by their walk with the Lord and truly made decisions to grow. Continue to pray for the students of Clearwater Christian College that they will keep their decisions alive and continue to live for the Lord.
Keystone Bible Church - Odessa
andrewhaney.jpg When our team visits a church, one of our goals for ministry is to help that church become a little more healthy. We believe that a community of brotherly love is a key factor of a healthy church. Keystone Bible Church of Odessa, FL was such a blessing to our team because of their effort to communicate brotherly love to everyone who walks through their doors. We interviewed Pastor Andrew Haney about the start of Keystone Bible Church, the sweet community that the church has, and his long term goals for the church. Watch our latest Galkin Digital Short to find out more.
Gunnery Road Baptist Church

edu.jpg    Reaching out to the community is important for every church, and this past week in Lehigh Acres, Florida, our team was able to help Gunnery Road Baptist Church host an event for their preschool, seeking to reach their families with the gospel. Gunnery Road Christian Academy Preschool has a unique opportunity to educate children from various backgrounds, so when this preschool event took place, many unsaved parents and children were able to hear a clear presentation of the gospel. That night our children's program ran about 100. Eight children were counseled for their need of salvation. Will was able to preach to forty families about biblical parenting and also presented the gospel. The response from the families was excellent! Parents of this generation are seeking help to properly bring up their children, and the foundation they need is love. This love cannot be expressed without knowing God's pure love for them and then communicating that love back to their children. We praise God for the great turn out and that the gospel was able to go forth into the community of Lehigh Acres this past week.

On the road again - Spring 2010 ontheroadagain.jpg After we parted ways in November, each team member took their own adventure across various parts of the world. Will Galkin spent time Zambia preaching at Central African Baptist College; Reba and Stephen traveled to South America with the Pettit Team; Josh and Jared spent five weeks in Guatemala at a language school; and Elise and Laura spent time with family in Colorado and Virginia. To hear more about what the team did on break, check out the latest Galkin Digital Short – On the Road Again.
Josh and Jared in Guatemala
guatemalaruin.jpg    During the last four weeks Jared and I (Josh) have had the wonderful opportunity to study Spanish in Antigua, Guatemala. We flew into Guatemala City and were picked up at the airport by someone from the school. He drove us to our host homes, where we have been staying for the last four weeks. I am staying maybe ¼ of a mile from Jared so we do basically everything together. We both have private tutors every day from 8 in the morning till 12 in the afternoon. Antigua is a very old city (hence the name), with cobblestone streets, and ancient buildings everywhere. It is a very beautiful city located near the base of a volcano. The neighboring volcano, Fuego, is still active and often shoots some of its gray ash into the air for us to see, and sometimes at night it will spray bright red lava into the sky. It is quite a beautiful scenario. We have been studying for four weeks now and are thoroughly enjoying our time and are learning a lot. Neither of us really knew any Spanish when we came down here, but are getting along quite well in Spanish now. We still have a long ways to go and only one week left, but I think that the time has been very profitable for both of us in many ways.
Two things impress me more than the rest about Antigua. The first is how the whole world comes here to learn Spanish. I did not realize how many foreigners would be here, but as it turns out – the majority of the cities income is based on people touring the city. In our school alone we have only met a few students from the States, the majority have been from Switzerland, Germany, London, and Canada. People come here for vacation and then study in the Spanish schools for a week or two and then continue to tour the country. Antigua is located in a good place for people to use it as a hub for touring other places like Honduras, El Salvador, Mexico, and Costa Rica.
The second thing, and probably most impacting is how dark the city is because of Catholicism. Every week and sometimes multiple times a week there are Catholic parades or Catholic fiestas held in different pueblos (close towns). The people live very immoral lifestyles and then go watch or join a parade and consider themselves very spiritual. They don’t look for truth, and are very blinded by “religion.” In the city itself there are few evangelical works but none are really strong or have a strong testimony or effect from what we have heard from the locals. It is such a dark place and I wonder who will take up the burden for these people? Who will come here to a modern Ephesus - a city where the world comes to study and learn Spanish - and be a light in a dark place?

Westside Baptist - Augusta, GA
augustateam.jpg    The last week of our fall semester was in Augusta, Georgia at Westside Baptist Church. We met up with the Galkins for our week of ministry together. It was a sweet time to be together for both families, since we haven’t ministered as just the two families in a couple of years. It was our first week of ministry back with the Galkins since having our second baby, Asher James, who is now just seven weeks old. We have been at Westside Baptist many times and looked forward to a great week of serving together. The first several nights were focused on encouraging the church in the Word. On Wednesday night we had Family Night. I lead the children in a program that included the “5 Facts About My Great Big God” and several other songs and verses that they learned throughout the week. Will preached a message on love in relationships. God saved two teenagers through the message. Praise the Lord for the power of the Gospel! All throughout the week the teens were working hard at inviting their friends to the Thursday night Cola War. Our Irish Concert finished out the week. The church was full and many were blessed to hear the Good News of Jesus!

Our time at Westside was a great blessing. The pastoral team under the leadership of Bobby Lehn was an example of service and commitment to the Lord’s church. We were blessed to spend special time together. Praise the Lord for the spirit of love amidst His people there!

Grace Baptist - Parker, CO
pastorfamily330_edited-1.jpg    Before we all drove and flew our separate ways for the Holidays, we were able to minister with a former Pettit Team member, Pastor Ward Smith of Grace Baptist Church in Parker, CO.
The Lord continues to amaze our team week after week, and this week was no different. After our opening meeting on Sunday morning, Will was able to lead a visiting man to the Lord, and he returned this Sunday. The Lord also blessed us with a great turn out for our Irish Concert. Some folks from Colorado Springs visited and many members of the church brought unsaved guests to hear the gospel.
Crystal, a young lady in the church, was able to invite her sister to the Irish Concert. Her sister has been hard toward the gospel for many years, and much to Crystal’s surprise her sister wanted to come out to the Concert. She was unable to attend due to her sick baby girl, but she was planning to come on Sunday. We were reminded again this week of God’s amazing power to soften the hearts of unbelievers.
Please be in prayer for our team as we will be traveling to various countries in the next few weeks. Josh and Jared will be traveling to Guatemala, Reba and Stephen will be traveling to South America along with a few members of the Pettit Team, and Will will be traveling to Zambia.

Red Rocks Baptist
exteriorfront.jpg   Our week at Red Rocks was filled with special events. We were able to have our Irish concert on Sunday, and a ladies and men’s fellowship throughout the rest of the week. The various events were an opportunity for the people of Red Rocks to invite friends and co-workers to have a time of fellowship and to hear the gospel. We praise God that a few men responded to the Gospel during the men’s fellowship.
We often get the opportunity to minister in Christian school chapels, and this week at Red Rocks we were able to see teenage souls saved during chapel. It was great to have opportunities to connect with the teens, especially at the Cola War. Pastor Ben Klaus prayed specifically for a great number of teens to come to the Cola War, and graciously the Lord allowed 80 teens to come out. Aaron Coffey gave a gospel message, and Pastor Ben was able to lead a teenage boy to the Lord.
Please continue to pray for the churches that we have ministered in this semester. The Lord has allowed churches to make many contacts through our outreach events, but prayer is still needed for the discipleship and growth of those contacts.

First Baptist Church: Steamboat Springs
steamboatsprings.jpg    This week in Steamboat Springs, we saw God answer specific prayers for our Irish Concert. Pastor Jason Clark is a faithful shepherd to his flock at First Baptist Church. He challenged his church about their witnessing and inviting, and by God’s grace there were 60 visitors at our Irish Concert! At least one person was saved and at least five contacts were made afterword. The team was blessed to know that Pastor Clark prayed specifically for 100 people to attend, for at least one to respond to salvation, and for at least five contacts to be made. All of these prayers were answered. What a powerful and merciful God we serve to answer our prayers specifically! We look forward to serving the revival events at Red Rocks Baptist Church this week!

Pear Park Baptist - Grand Junction, CO

p1010348.jpg   Our travel through Utah to Colorado had some of the most beautiful scenery I had ever seen.

Snow capped mountains, red rock canyons, and portions of the Great Salt Lake.

The team was awed at how beautiful God has designed this world, and how true it is that creation is an evidence of God’s existence and His mighty power.

God’s power was also evident at Pear Park Baptist Church in saving souls and in causing others to seek Him more.

Jared and I (Laura) felt a burden for our outreach night on Wednesday, and felt the need to pray specifically for Will’s gospel message for the adults and Josh’s gospel message for the children. By God’s grace I was able to lead a girl to the Lord that we were specifically praying for, and Jared was able to give the gospel to a visiting boy.

Our team is constantly reminded that it is not we who have the power to save or to convict; it is all through the Lord.

Grace Baptist - Elko, NV
elko_nevada_mountain.jpg    Elko, Nevada is nationally known for its Cowboy poetry ; in fact, each year the town holds a National Cowboy Poetry Gathering at the Western Folklife Center. Unfortunately our team was not able to attend the gathering, but we did have Pastor Aaron Young perform a few poems for us. Our team was blessed by Pastor Young’s humor, and sincere joy in the Lord. He shepherds a church that really does seek to know God more (Watch a video about Pastor Young's heart for Elko). We were able to meet some prayer warriors that pray for our team every day. That was a blessing to us as well as a great challenge for us.
God blessed us with visitors this week at Grace Baptist Church. We had the biggest Cola War we’ve had all semester! We had around 60 teenagers and were able to make good connections with the visiting teens and have good counseling sessions with the teen members.  We also were blessed to see many visitors come out to our Sacred Irish Concert. Many adults came to know Christ and many more were encouraged in their walk with Christ.
Next on our itinerary is Grand Junction, CO. We will stay in Colorado for the next four weeks and then our team will be temporarily divided as we travel across the world working in missions and other local churches. Please be in prayer for wisdom and discernment on our holiday-off time.

Fellowship Baptist - Meridian, ID fellowship_meridian.jpg

This past week in Meridian, The Lord allowed a great work to be done at Fellowship Baptist Church. We were able to go door to door witnessing with the teens on Tuesday and Wednesday, and by God’s grace each day we were all able to share the gospel with at least one person. One teen girl was able to lead a Spanish woman to the Lord!

Pastor Jeff Estes was a huge blessing to our team. He was always there to help us out through the week. The love that he has for his congregation is an evident fruit of His love for The Lord. God has blessed him with a congregation knit like a family. Pastor Estes declared Tuesday night, Orange and Blue night to celebrate the pride of the Boise Broncos. The entire church building was full of orange and blue; even pom poms were hung up for decoration.

Assistant Pastor Best has been burdened for his neighbors to come to Christ. Thankfully he has been able to bring some of his neighbors’ children to church. After much prayer from the Best family, two of them accepted Christ this week!

We give God the glory for all our answers to prayer this week and look forward to what He does through us in Elko, Nevada.

3 Weeks in the West
bereanbaptist.gif     Three weeks in the West has been quite an adventure for our team. We’ve had the privilege to minister in Wyoming and Idaho and see some beautiful sights in the Rocky Mountain region.
We kicked off our first week in Cheyenne, WY. The pastor and congregation of Homestead Baptist Church are very burdened for their community and thankfully by God’s grace many visitors came out to our Cola War and Sacred Irish Concert. We were blessed by the servant hearts of pastor Randy Gregory and the ladies who served us each day with amazing food! We were able to connect with many visitors after the meetings and even connect with the college and career group for an ice cream social!
After Cheyenne we headed west to Will’s home state, Idaho.
New Team Members thumb_tlapsefallweb.jpgWe are looking forward to another year of ministry. This Fall the Coffeys are expecting their second child and will not be able to minister with us for much of the semester. We will look forward to having their family with us in the Spring. During this time however, we will be joined in ministry by six single adults. Reba Snyder and Josh Roland, as veterans of the road will serve as team leaders for the rest of the crew. In addition to these responsibilities Reba will coordinate our music ministry and Josh will administrate the Teen and Children’s ministry. Helping with the resources table and the education of the Galkin children will be Elise Lafferty. Laura Kennedy will be serving by taking care of our technology needs. Jared Mitchell graduated this past May with a degree in Evangelism will be assisting with the teens’ and children’s program. Stephen Pettit will serve in children’s and music ministry.
Mackinaw City Bible Church and Calvary Baptist Church in Gaines, MI
5_servicemen_appreciation_night.jpgThe last two weeks of our traveling year were busy for the Galkin team! After our meetings in Charlotte, we headed north to Mackinaw City, MI, for a week of meetings with Pastor Reid Nelson at Mackinaw City Bible Church. From the beginning, we enjoyed sharing in the blessings of preaching and fellowship with the church family. Through the different nights with emphasis such as Mother's Night and Servicemen Appreciation Night, we were able to see many visitors come to hear the Gospel, and several were saved! Josh, Caroline, and Reba enjoyed working with the four teen girls in the youth group, and rejoiced when a teen visitor received Christ as his Savior on Friday night. As this week was our last full week of meetings, we enjoyed a special time as a team on Mackinaw Island. The kids and adults alike enjoyed the butterfly house, carriage ride, food, and ferry trip on Friday morning!
Charlotte and Fostoria, MI 10_calvary_baptist_church_in_charlotte_mi.jpgWe have been enjoying our time in Michigan, spending the past two weeks in Charlotte and Fostoria, MI. We had a great week of meetings with the congregation at Calvary Baptist Church in Charlotte. Enjoying some beautiful warm weather, we had fun canvassing with the teens for their Cola War, which saw many visitors out, and around half of them got saved! Our Irish concert was well attended, and we enjoyed connecting with some of the visitors afterwards. Unfortunately, our team (and many people in the church) were hit with a stomach flu in the beginning of the week, which caused two of the team members and several church members to miss a service or two. Everyone is healed now, and we are thankful to be well! During the week, we celebrated Anna Grace's eighth birthday, complete with a fun morning at a petting zoo and creamery. Click here to see some pictures from the week. Continue Reading on about Fostoria Baptist Church...

Littleton and Lifeway Baptist Churches

11_irish_folk_music.jpg Over the past few weeks, we've enjoyed meetings with two special churches in two very different parts of the country! We were with our dear friends at Littleton Baptist Church in Littleton, CO for a half week of meetings. In our short time there, we were able to have a Cola War and a Sacred Irish Concert, which was almost snowed out! However, the snow stopped right before the service--many visitors were able to come out, and at least one lady was saved! We enjoyed fellowshipping during lunch times with Pastor and Mrs. Davis, and the ladies who made our wonderful meals every day. We had a great week for the Amazing Grace Race, and we were excited to see several children trust Christ as their Savior!

Highlands Baptist Church

main_article_pic.jpgThis past week took us to Highlands Baptist Church in Centennial, CO. God was working in the hearts of the people of this church long before we arrived, and it was blessing to do ministry with them! Although the weather frequently changed, the attendance to the services was solid. We had a great Cola War on Wednesday night, seeing several teens come out from our canvassing efforts. Thanks to the generosity of God’s people, the church was able to mail out invitations to the community, and we saw a large group of visitors for the Irish Concert. We’re thankful for the souls that were saved and the growth we saw. We had to cancel the service on Thursday night because of a snow storm, but we are thankful God is in control and we can trust Him as the Lord of the harvest! We had the extra blessing of spending time with dear friends of ours, Terry and Michael Pettit. (See Reba’s article for more of the fun news.) Praise the Lord for a great week!

Faith Baptist Church 9_aaron_running_the_games.jpgPraise the Lord for another great week of meetings! Our team had a short drive to our next destination, Faith Baptist Church in Longmont, CO. It felt like a little reunion, as we had just been with the church for a few days before our Tri-City Baptist meetings. The week was full of services, Christian school chapels, canvassing, a Cola War, and great Irish Concert. The teens worked hard to invite friends and teens out to the Cola War, and we were blessed with a number of visitors, and several were saved that night! We had a great time of fellowship on Thursday night with many of the parents and students from the Christian school. Reba and Caroline were able to stay in the church's prophets chamber throughout the week, which was the sight of a great birthday party for Josh. (see "Happy Birthday, Josh!" under last week's "What's Happening" for more details.) We are thankful for the burden of the church members for lost family members and friends, and for the good responses to the preaching of the Word. Click here for photos from the week.
Tri-City Baptist Church 16_meetings_at_tri-city_baptist.jpgWe are glad to be in the state of Colorado, which is "home" for many of the members of our team. We will be in the Denver area for the next four weeks, and our first stop was at Tri-City Baptist Church in Westminster, CO. Throughout the week, we saw a great attendance of church members and visitors. On Wednesday, we had a teen Cola War, with more than 10 visitors, and almost all of them were saved that night! We had a great dessert fellowship on Thursday night with our Sacred Music Concert, and several more people were saved. We enjoyed fellowship with the staff of Tri-City, including a meal on Friday, cooked and served by a real chef! Josh, Reba, and Caroline enjoyed some fellowship with the College and Career class, which has been growing and was a blessing to fellowship with. The enthusiasm and sweet spirit of the congregation was a blessing to us, and we are thankful for our week spent with them! Click here to view pictures from the week.
Westside Baptist Church 10_westside_baptist.jpgThese past few weeks have been a blessing and joy to our team as we ministered with the dear people of Westside Baptist Church in St. George, UT. The Galkins arrived at the church a week before the meetings to enjoy a vacation in this beautiful place. We had a great week of meetings, complete with Christian school chapels and a well- attended Irish Concert! We had many visitors throughout the week, and several adults and children accepted Christ as their Savior. The Amazing Grace Race was fun-filled, with the kids bringing lots of friends out to hear about Jesus! Along with the ministry, we got some opportunities to rest and play while paintballing, hiking, and four- wheeling (click here to see pictures from the week). We are sad to leave, but thankful for the work that God did, for the rest we got, and for the friendships we formed. We are also joyful at the love found in this church, and we pray that God will continue to work in this sweet body of believers!
Western Avenue Baptist Church

dsc_0099.jpgOur week at Western Avenue Baptist Church was a blessing and encouragement! Throughout the week, many people made salvation decisions, and we had a good number of visitors at our Sacred Irish Concert. We know that God's Word will not return void, and we were thankful for the opportunity to both sow and reap in this church. We were blessed by the kind and giving people in this church, through their meals, hospitality, and service to us. Reba and Caroline enjoyed a special treat--staying in their very own trailer for the week! They were excited about this opportunity, and they learned a lot about trailer life. It was a great week of ministry! The team parted ways on Friday for a week of vacation--the Coffeys headed to Washington to visit Aaron's sister and her husband, the Galkins travelled up to our next church, Westside Baptist in St. George, UT, and Josh, Reba, and Caroline took a visit to Josh's sister's house in San Diego (see Reba's article for the story.) We are grateful to be reunited again, and looking forward to the ministry here in Utah.

Northwest Valley Baptist Church 2_beautiful_weather_in_arizona.jpgThis week we were able to get away from some of the cold weather and enjoy some warmth in Arizona. We had meetings with the Northwest Valley Baptist each night while during the day we spent some time with the Arrowhead Christian Academy students. Aaron and Josh were able to practice basketball with the high school team. Also Josh, Caroline, and Reba were able to spend some time with several of the college age students. The highlight of the week came on Friday - the Irish concert. Several visitors came and there was a handful that accepted Christ as their Savior. We praise God for allowing us to be a small part of what He is doing in saving souls.
Messiah Baptist Church

messiah.jpg Last week, we had the joy of serving with the people at Messiah Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, Texas. Although it feels like the week went by too fast, we enjoyed ministering with Pastor Lukus and Liesl Counterman—Christy and Liesl traveled together on the Pettit team several years ago. The week started out strong, as we rejoiced in the two souls that were saved on Sunday morning. With inclement weather throughout the week, and an ice storm on Tuesday that caused us to cancel our service that evening, it was a comfort to know that God is sovereign, and that He works out all things to bring Him glory! We were able to go canvassing in two public schools on Thursday for the Cola War that night, and from the teens that came, three received Christ! We are thankful that we saw at least one teen, adult, or child saved every night of the meetings! Aaron had the opportunity to preach at a Hunter’s Banquet the weekend before, so they joined us a little later in the week for our Sacred Irish Concert—and we are very grateful for the safety God granted them as they drove through the ice. The church family at Messiah was a blessing to us this past week, and we left on Friday morning thankful for our time with them and looking forward to seeing God’s future work in and through this church!

Calvary Baptist Church - Huntsville

27-calvary_baptist_church_in_huntsville_alweb.jpgAs our team ministered in Huntsville, Alabama at Calvary Baptist Church last week, we learned many things--that cold weather and ice do exist in the South, that Huntsville has more earned Ph.D.'s per capita than any other city, and most importantly, that God is working in the lives and hearts of the people in this church! From the very first service on Sunday morning, our team enjoyed the warmth of and fellowship with the congregation at Calvary. This week was a blessing to us in more than one way. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we enjoyed canvassing with many of the teens from the church, inviting teenagers out to the Cola War. We even got to pass out invitations in a public high-school, thanks to the good relationship between the youth pastor, Derrick Suttles, and the administration of the public school. Thursday night, we saw over 150 teens come out for a cold but fun Cola War, and we praised God for answered prayer as He called 17 teens to salvation! Despite sickness amongst team members, which often resulted in lost voices, we were able to have a wonderful Sacred Irish Concert, and saw many church members bring visitors. Although the week was fun and encouraging, we are most of all grateful for the way God brought souls to salvation, called wandering Christians back to Himself, and reminded those who love Him that He is working in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure!

Calvary Bible Church/BJU This past week, our team had the opportunity to minister at Calvary Bible Church. Christy and Josh's brother Mark is a pastor and the principal of the school. We had some good time fellowshipping with them and assisting them in Gospel ministry. We saw some accept Jesus as their Savior as well as others who dedicated their lives to serve God in some capacity of full-time Chrstian service. We also were at Bob Jones University as Will preached the opening evangelistic services. We enjoyed seeing friends and family, especially at our Northland Camp get-together in the snack shop on Thursday night. It was a great time of fellowship, encouragement, and reminiscing about camp and what God has done and is doing in our lives since then. Anna Grace enjoyed a special treat—meeting some of her BJU Link teachers! We praise the Lord for two wonderful nights of services, and for the opportunity to minister in song as our team sang “The Power of the Cross” on Friday night.
The New Year 2009modified.jpgThe year 2008 seemed to have come and gone. And for most of the team New Years Day was spent in Myrtle Beach, S.C. for the Impact 21 Evangelistic conference. Multiple evangelists came together for 3 days of preaching and fellowship. It was an encouragement to see friends and to be there for the Pettit team’s sending off of Joel and Megan Albright. Will preached one of the sessions and taught a workshop on traveling with a team. The team helped provide some of the music for the conference. Having been encouraged by the Word of God, the team is gearing up for the new year of traveling.
Calvary Baptist Church - Midland
celloviolinw.jpgEntering our third week in Michigan meant more beautiful fall colors and crisp fall mornings. We arrived at Calvary Baptist Church in Midland on Saturday afternoon—and the week flew by after that. We had a full week of meetings—we did an Irish Concert; Aaron and Will were able to preach to the students in their morning chapel; and we also had a School Night where the preschoolers and students performed several sacred songs, and over 100 guests came to see their children singing and hear a Gospel message. We were thankful to see at least one person saved in every service, and excited by the decisions many students made in their chapel services. The team enjoyed singing in Calvary’s beautiful auditorium, and for the first time we used one of the songs on our new recording and sang it with Calvary’s choir—they were a great addition to our music! On the fun side, we enjoyed our annual Harvest Party on Sunday night, complete with Buffalo Wild Wings and pumpkin carving—see Reba’s article for her take on the evening and fun pictures. We are thankful for the chance to minister at Calvary, and for how God worked in the hearts and lives of the dear people there.
Faith Baptist Church

6_faith_baptist_church.jpg Warmer weather and sunny days greeted us at Faith Baptist Church in Warren, MI. Not only was the weather a blessing to us during the week, but we were also blessed by the excitement and evangelism of the people at Faith Baptist. The Irish Concert on Wednesday night was filled with unsaved family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers of the members of the church, and we were thankful for the souls that were saved throughout the week. The team got a chance to work with hundreds of children on Wednesday night that the church buses in weekly for services. We held an after-service Cola War for the teens that was well attended by the church members and their friends. We even had some extra excitement added to our week when William woke up with the chicken pox on Monday morning. (see Christy's article and video) The generosity and kindness of the people at Faith was a blessing to us, and we enjoyed serving along side of them for the week and seeing people brought into God's family!

Ashley Baptist Church
ashley_baptist_church_in_belding_mi.jpgThis past week the weather went from warm and sunny to cold and rainy. Although it did dampen our clothing, it did not dampen our spirits. We were thrilled with the way the Lord worked once again in His church.  Christy and Reba both traveled back down to Indiana to work on mixing our upcoming recording. We were also reminded of the generosity of God’s people through gifts.

Early on in the week, the team took an afternoon and went to an Apple Orchard where we enjoyed some mazes, a petting zoo, and even riding some kiddy bikes. (Click here for pics.) It was a wonderful relaxing afternoon – just enjoying each other’s company. The blessings of the week were just starting as on Friday we were able to see the Pettit team for the afternoon. We traveled about an hour to see them and enjoyed the camaraderie and the fellowship. In Will’s words, “A few hours seemed like minutes.”
Recording
recording group This past week, the Lord allowed us to complete our recording.  During the week we enjoyed fellowshipping with old friends--Jon Albright and Kristen Campbell both came to help with the recording and music detailing. Matt Taylor and his wife also came, as Matt helped us with some of the vocals. We praise the Lord for allowing us to have such a great time with good friends. Click here for recording pics.
During the week we ministered at Colonial Baptist Church, as well as Burge Terrace Baptist Church. We saw the Lord once again blessing and leading in our ministry.  We also were the recipients of the generosity of God’s people. Throughout the week, many people provided our needs and even over and above our wants - even sending us to a nice steak house. Also, this week we celebrated Ella’s 1st birthday. Parties are always fun and we once again had the team favorite Buffalo Wild Wings – Mango Habanera,  Asian Zing, and Honey BBQ are the team favorites.
Westfield IN.
constructionCones and construction vehicles were in the parking lot as we drove up to Trinity Baptist Church. Located outside of Indianapolis, the new addition to the church building was taking shape and concrete was being poured. Not only was the external building being constructed, but God was growing His church. Throughout the week, record attendance was seen. There were special-event-nights for the ladies, men, and teens. The Lord blessed these events, and several teens received Christ on Thursday night. It was a boost for the youth group and exciting to all who participated.
During the week, the team put in many hours practicing for the upcoming recording. Lord willing, the recording will be completed this week. Don’t forget to sign up for an e-mail notification when it is released!
On the Road Again
Aaron After spending the summer at Northland Camp, the team has hit the road once more. This time, however, we travel with a few more companions. Joining us this fall are three young singles who will be aiding us in all areas of our ministry. We are very excited to have them join our team as we minister to local churches.

The Galkin and Coffey families ministered in Joliet Ill. at Calvary Baptist Church for three weeks. The Lord allowed the team to spend time equipping the saints for evangelism. The rest of the team joined up with them on the 1st of September and immediately started music practices in preparation for the new CD. Lord willing the release date for the CD will be around Thanksgiving.  The team then traveled to West Bend WI. to minister with Pastor Bruce Dunford. We thank God for the teenagers that came to know Christ on Thursday evening. Click here for photos of the week.

The Kids are enjoying traveling and getting used to homeschooling once again. The summer ministry at Northland Camp is a wonderful privilege but there is something refreshing about being involved in the local church directly. Josh and Caroline, the newest to road ministry, are on the learning curve and are jumping in for their second week of meetings. Five of the team members have had birthdays in the last two weeks and of course we all love parties.
New CD
This fall, the Galkin Evangelistic Team will be recording their third music cd.   This new recording will display the musical abilities of the old and new team members, as well as the familiar voice of Matt Taylor, who sang on previous recordings.  We are excited to have Josh Roland (Christy’s brother), Caroline Lee, and Reba Snyder join our team. They will be a tremendous asset, helping in youth programs and music. The title for the new cd has not yet been decided, but many of the songs encourage our hearts with the message of salvation through the blood of Jesus and hope for those who are discouraged.  The song selections will be primarily vocal with three or four instrumentals.  Please check back in the coming months to preview songs and pre-order your copy. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to seeing you in the near future!
New Horizons

HorizonsStarting this Fall, our team will be enhanced by the addition of two new members. Reba Snyder and Josh Roland will be joining up with our team to help with the ministry of the Gospel. We are very excited about this new addition and know that the Lord is going to bless and work through and in our whole team as we strive together in love for the labors of Christ.

Reba Snyder is originally from South Bend, Indiana. She grew up playing the piano and received a degree in Church Music. She traveled with the Steve Pettit Evangelistic Team for 3 years where she not only developed other musical talents but was able to begin arranging music and writing music of her own. The Lord has gifted her in music and she wants to use her gifts for the furtherance of the Gospel.

She loves Starbucks coffee and enjoys running. Her jubilant attitude will be a joy to have on the team. We are looking forward to what God has in store while laboring together.

Josh Roland, originally from Denver, Colorado, will also be joining us in the fall semester. He, being Christy's brother, will have no trouble finding his niche with the nephews and nieces. He too has been gifted in music and wants to use his talents in whatever way possible for the cause of Christ.

Josh will be assisting Will with administrative tasks as well as helping Aaron with the teen and children's programs. He received his M.A. in Bible and desires to eventually get involved with Church Planting in some facet or another.

What a joy to return to Northland and preach where Will was a college student.
