Team Updates
Calvary Baptist Church - Simpsonville PDF Print E-mail
pastortaylorandwife.jpg   We were back on the road from a two-week break, but the Lord gave us great grace last week at Calvary in Simpsonville. Our team was able to connect with friends in the area that attended Calvary, and with the Pettit Team as they were recording in Greenville. We also had a great time with Pastor Taylor and his family. The Taylors treated us to deserts and fellowship at their home, although the highlight for the kids was to see Luke Taylor’s pet snake.
The Lord gave us grace last week with notable conversions. The first day of meetings, a lady in the church accepted Christ. Throughout the week many children either made assurance or accepted Christ as their Savior. Our Irish Concert had a great turn out from the community. Many church members went out and invited neighbors and friends and we praise God many guest were able to hear a clear presentation of the gospel!

Recording in Greenville PDF Print E-mail
christyrecording.jpg   Right at this moment, Reba Snyder, Christy Galkin, and Gary Emory are in the process of editing and mixing our new Galkin Team instrumental. Our team spent last week recording at Brightwater Digital Studios in Greenville, SC. We are excited about this recording because it has such a unique aspect of mediation. The CD will feature about fifteen meditative songs, and some possibly mixed with scripture readings. Please continue to pray for us as we are still in the mixing process of this CD. Mark your calendars for the release of this new recording coming out Summer of 2010.

Faith Baptist Church - Pensacola PDF Print E-mail

bailie.jpg  We had a great week of Ministry at Faith Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida. The youth group had their first ever Cola War on Thursday night. There was just the right amount of visitors for the event, and a few teens made professions of faith that night.

The highlight of the week was the Valentine’s Banquet on Friday night. Pastor Wooten, along with several church members, worked hard throughout the week to make the evening a success. Praise the Lord for the hard work of His saints to invite their friends to hear the Gospel.

Berea Baptist Church - Palm Harbor PDF Print E-mail
billygotcher.jpg   We praise God for the multiple opportunities we had last week to preach Christ.
While ministering with Billy Gotcher at Berea Baptist Church in Palm Harbor, Florida we were able to host an Irish Concert at a retirement community for over 300 lost souls. We were able to give testimonies about what the gospel of Jesus Christ is and the necessity of the gospel to every person through word and song. We saw many visitors from the retirement community come out to our meetings at the church throughout the week. This concert was a great opportunity for Berea Baptist Church to get its name out to a lost community.
Our teen Cola War was excellent. Over thirty teens came out for some crazy games, free pizza, and a gospel message. Unknown to us at the time, a parent of a teenage boy was outside the church buildings praying earnestly for her son to be saved, and her prayers were answered!
Many church members brought friends and family to Friday’s outreach, the Friendship Banquet. Our team was praying specifically for adults to be saved this week at our meetings, and a handful of guests accepted Christ on Friday.
We are humbled to see the great works of God in the way he answers our specific prayers and His power to save souls.

Hillsdale Baptist Church PDF Print E-mail
dsc_0020.jpg    It is our desire as a team to see God work in each church we come in contact with. When we see that it is God that does a work through our lives, we grasp the big picture of what our ministry is. This week at Hillsdale Baptist Church, we saw God do a great work. Our team was able join in ministry with Pastor Travis Smith at a men's night where the gospel was preached to over 80 members and guests. Over 80 teenagers came out to our Cola War, 24 of which were counseled about salvation, and many children in our Battle for Truth sessions made professions of faith.
Wednesday night may have seemed like a discouragement at first, but the Lord was definitely at work. The power went out at the church and the surrounding area for about 45 minutes during our pre-session. The staff at the church decided to cancel the meeting, but through that, Will was able to talk to a man he had been sharing the gospel with for several days. And that night, while the power was out, Will was able to lead him to the Lord.

Clearwater Christian College PDF Print E-mail
gymnasium_post_office.jpg    Our team had a great opportunity to minister at Clearwater Christian College this past week as we hosted their Winter Revival Meetings. We were able to minister through music and preaching, but we were also able to connect with the students by talking, eating, and sharing our hearts with them. The team girls, Reba, Elise, and Laura, were able to host dorm devotionals three nights, sharing what the Lord has been teaching them. A few students raised their hand to acknowledge their need for salvation, and praise God some were able to secure that relationship with the Lord. Other students were challenged by their walk with the Lord and truly made decisions to grow. Continue to pray for the students of Clearwater Christian College that they will keep their decisions alive and continue to live for the Lord.

Keystone Bible Church - Odessa PDF Print E-mail
andrewhaney.jpg When our team visits a church, one of our goals for ministry is to help that church become a little more healthy. We believe that a community of brotherly love is a key factor of a healthy church. Keystone Bible Church of Odessa, FL was such a blessing to our team because of their effort to communicate brotherly love to everyone who walks through their doors. We interviewed Pastor Andrew Haney about the start of Keystone Bible Church, the sweet community that the church has, and his long term goals for the church. Watch our latest Galkin Digital Short to find out more.

Gunnery Road Baptist Church PDF Print E-mail

edu.jpg    Reaching out to the community is important for every church, and this past week in Lehigh Acres, Florida, our team was able to help Gunnery Road Baptist Church host an event for their preschool, seeking to reach their families with the gospel. Gunnery Road Christian Academy Preschool has a unique opportunity to educate children from various backgrounds, so when this preschool event took place, many unsaved parents and children were able to hear a clear presentation of the gospel. That night our children's program ran about 100. Eight children were counseled for their need of salvation. Will was able to preach to forty families about biblical parenting and also presented the gospel. The response from the families was excellent! Parents of this generation are seeking help to properly bring up their children, and the foundation they need is love. This love cannot be expressed without knowing God's pure love for them and then communicating that love back to their children. We praise God for the great turn out and that the gospel was able to go forth into the community of Lehigh Acres this past week.

Josh and Jared in Guatemala PDF Print E-mail
guatemalaruin.jpg    During the last four weeks Jared and I (Josh) have had the wonderful opportunity to study Spanish in Antigua, Guatemala. We flew into Guatemala City and were picked up at the airport by someone from the school. He drove us to our host homes, where we have been staying for the last four weeks. I am staying maybe ¼ of a mile from Jared so we do basically everything together. We both have private tutors every day from 8 in the morning till 12 in the afternoon. Antigua is a very old city (hence the name), with cobblestone streets, and ancient buildings everywhere. It is a very beautiful city located near the base of a volcano. The neighboring volcano, Fuego, is still active and often shoots some of its gray ash into the air for us to see, and sometimes at night it will spray bright red lava into the sky. It is quite a beautiful scenario. We have been studying for four weeks now and are thoroughly enjoying our time and are learning a lot. Neither of us really knew any Spanish when we came down here, but are getting along quite well in Spanish now. We still have a long ways to go and only one week left, but I think that the time has been very profitable for both of us in many ways.
Two things impress me more than the rest about Antigua. The first is how the whole world comes here to learn Spanish. I did not realize how many foreigners would be here, but as it turns out – the majority of the cities income is based on people touring the city. In our school alone we have only met a few students from the States, the majority have been from Switzerland, Germany, London, and Canada. People come here for vacation and then study in the Spanish schools for a week or two and then continue to tour the country. Antigua is located in a good place for people to use it as a hub for touring other places like Honduras, El Salvador, Mexico, and Costa Rica.
The second thing, and probably most impacting is how dark the city is because of Catholicism. Every week and sometimes multiple times a week there are Catholic parades or Catholic fiestas held in different pueblos (close towns). The people live very immoral lifestyles and then go watch or join a parade and consider themselves very spiritual. They don’t look for truth, and are very blinded by “religion.” In the city itself there are few evangelical works but none are really strong or have a strong testimony or effect from what we have heard from the locals. It is such a dark place and I wonder who will take up the burden for these people? Who will come here to a modern Ephesus - a city where the world comes to study and learn Spanish - and be a light in a dark place?
-Josh Roland
